About us

The Feelings Creatures is a small project by two people who think children deserve a word for every feeling – not just the four that show up in every book.

Monica is an artist with a degree in psychology. On paper or on book pages, she tells stories in pictures, preferably for the youngest audience. Her conviction: all feelings are allowed. Children don't need to unlearn feelings – they need to get to know them.

Texts

Sebastian Schams

Sebastian holds a doctorate in the natural sciences and is a dad of two. He wrote the read-aloud texts, the questions and the tricks. Every trick is built to be tried right away – in the middle of the storm, not only afterwards.

How the books are made

It started with a simple observation: kids have big feelings but often no words for them. Most books know four or five. We wanted one that takes envy, embarrassment and missing someone seriously too – and that feels like a coloring book, not a lesson. Every double page goes through many rounds: scene, text, question, trick, read it aloud, cut, read it aloud again.
