24 feelings, not 6

Most feelings books show four to six feelings: happy, sad, angry, scared. Kids feel more than that. Here, each of the 24 feelings gets its own double page – including the ones nobody likes to talk about.

How every double page works

All 24 double pages follow the same pattern. Your child colors, you read aloud – and together you find a word for what is going on.

Anger double page: on the left Grumble the dragon with crossed arms, on the right a boy next to knocked-over blocks, with read-aloud text, questions and a breathing trick.
  1. The creature

On the left, a creature to color, with a name. Grumble is anger, Shivers is fear, Pinchy is jealousy.

  2. The scene

On the right, an everyday scene every child knows: a toppled tower of blocks, bedtime, the first day of preschool.

  3. The questions

A short read-aloud text and two questions: Where do you feel it in your body? When did this feeling last visit you?

  4. The trick

A little trick with a name to try right away – the flashlight for fear, ordering a cuddle for jealousy.

I have anger – I am not the anger.

The feeling is taken out of the child and set down next to them. That is why a creature is sometimes tiny and sometimes huge, depending on how big the feeling is right now. None of them is "bad", and none has to be made to go away. Each one comes, has something to tell, and moves on.
